Opportunity for residents to speak: Shawn Murzdek of Troop 1 presented his Eagle Plans for putting signs up along the Rails to Trails. He plans to install 12 non pressure- treated signs made of Douglas Fir with carved numbers and secured by concrete. Starting in June with a finish date of August. (Tony offered to make a metal plaque.)
Approval of minutes: Approved December 12, 2013 minutes.
Old Business:
Bus removal – Owner of A&B will be contacted in the next month and told about the state approvals we got for him to pull the bus out.  If he doesn’t wish too, Christine will organize a community clean-up similar to last year’s tire rollout.
Race - Our yearly kayak race is scheduled for May 5th. There is $2,500 in account. Budget for race is $1,000. Pratt and Whitney needs to be contacted for help with cleanup of river – Christine will do that. Stacy reported on some river blockages. Race date should be in NECKRA Calendar.  Tony will put flyers on cars at the Manchester race and Stacy at the Sciantic Race. Christine wilt seek permission from the Mayor to do several cleanups this summer along Main Street to keep trash from blowing into the Hockanum.
Budget:  Christine reported that she met with Ted Fravel, Director of Parks and Rec and he took the budget and it was left the same as last year because no increases were allowed.
Yearly Elections:  We voted on our officers again and Christine Durrer is again the Chairwoman and Alicia Healey the Secretary.
Leaving Commissioner:  We thanked Paula for her great service these many years. She is leaving as a Commissioner because she no longer lives in East Hartford and we can only have 2 Commissioners who reside outside of East Hartford.   Stacy indicated that she has lived in East Hartford for over a year and so we hope Tony can continue to be a Commissioner.
Trails Day is Saturday, June 1st.  The state is in charge and our local cleanup begins at the dike stairs behind Town Hall at 9 am until 12 pm.  We hope as many volunteers as possible will come join us.
Dave brought up UCONN's plan to divert water from the Barkhamsted reservoir for their proposed Tech. Park development and that was discussed.
The remaining Commission meetings scheduled for 2013 are all on Thursdays in Room 103 at 6PM. The dates are June 6th, September 12th, and December 12th.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm.
